Join with me in celebrating the first birthday of  What can He grow?  In honor of the first year I have updated almost everything! What is NEW? I have changed the design so it is more user friendly and is easier to Like or Post a Comment. I created a new logo and have updated some pictures and posts. I have also attached links on the front page to make it easy for you to share a post on your social media sites. I plan to update a little more as the year progresses. Enjoy!

My Midnight Gardener surprised me one year ago at Christmas by starting a WordPress account in my name and then we created the URL together. I had already written many pieces of content during the two previous years of poor health, so when the website went live I was set with six months of inspiration to share. I felt enthused and made the lofty goal to post once a week for one year.

I have learned a few things about goals since I set this one last February (and the goal I made two years ago to eat no fried food for one year.) I am going to be very honest–I did not meet either goal and I fully admit that I was disappointed with myself. However, I have made a deliberate choice to celebrate my achievements because, in retrospect these two goals were not S.M.A.R.T goals.

Today I am more informed about how to plan ahead. The S.M.A.R.T. goals acronym stands for: simple, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound. Also, today I think more in terms of plans that can be adapted in response to the complexities of life, rather than solely in black and white goals that I either did or failed to do. Liberating! In honor of life lessons learned, I begin the 2018 blogs at What can He grow? with smarter plans to post at least twice a month, if not more often, and posting almost always on a Thursday. I feel these plans are obtainable and offer me a little grace for those nights when, unlike the Midnight Gardener, I cannot stay up until midnight.

I have already started to make plans for February 2018 to February 2019.

img_1058God (the He in the blog title) has been encouraging my growth during this past year and I feel deeply grateful. I am enthused to share what I have learned with you, my friends and supporters. Thank you for taking the time to grow with me this first year, for liking, commenting and most of all reading my blog. Cheers to the first year of What can He grow?…..and onward we grow during year number two.  Jen
